I liked the episode, thought it was pretty good. Kol was awesome, sad he's dead. I think he already knew Elena was playing him long before he left. And Klaus was right, they did trap him in the house so it was on them. They should have just stuck with the original plan to dagger Kol.
Elena was [censored] though. She took down a Original, without help from either Damon or Stefan. Hopefully this Elena stays because she was awesome this episode. Jeremy also was awesome this episode. Team Gilbert FTW.
LOL At Abby trying to come back and be a mother to Bonnie now, and tell her what to do. She abandoned her two times, but think she has the right to just breeze in and act like her mother? Same with Bonnie's dad. Also, it was awesome how she took down Kol at the school. Since she's with Shane and the others in 4x13, and knows he's crazy, how will she interact with him I wonder?
Damon and Klaus convo in the cell was funny. I liked how Klaus asked Damon how he got Elena to forgive all the horrible things he's done. Their banter was great as well.
Klaus was awesome this episode. Loved his reaction to Kol's death. I also loved that he didn't want hybrids or Elena human, and he was going to kill them all once the cure was found. His threats to burn down the house was so [censored].
The Stebekah stuff was ok. I wonder if Rebekah is playing Stefan? Or will try to get revenge in 4x13 while on the island? I guess Matt do have feelings for Rebekah, judging by his reaction to her speech about wanting to be human.
All in all I loved the episode. Did you guys see carina's chat the other day? She said there's no way for kol to come back. Do you think that's true?

Yeah, I saw the Carina thing. She first said there was no way for Kol to come back, but then later said that a vampire had never been resurrected on the show before. We've heard a million times that Silas will bring back everyone who was killed in his name, so I don't think it's a far reach to assume that Kol would be a part of that.
Not sure what Matt's reaction was about. He could have just been relieved that he didn't have to do his part of the plan. I did sort of get Mabekah feels a bit. I sometimes forget how much I like Matt.

Stefan has expressed that he does want the cure, though. That's why my thinking is that Damon will get it instead. I think she'd be more inclined to force the cure on someone who has no interest in being human again. Wasn't Stefan's interest in the cure so that he could grow old and have a family with Elena? It'd be a twist if one of them got it and the other didn't get it. Tyler also doesn't want the cure, but I'm doubting he'll be the one it would be forced upon. Dee.....I'll have to force myself to watch that again. Klaus was banging at the invisible barrier to the Gilbert house?! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh My Feeeeeels Yeah that's what he wanted, but I think Rebekah's actions in the remaining episodes will depend on what's more important to her, keeping Stefan for herself or seeing Elena miserable. Creating a mess in Elena's current relationship by turning her boyfriend human would certainly make Elena unhappy. That would strain her relationship with Damon and Elena wouldn't be able to just run back to Stefan because she already [censored]ed things up with him. Then Rebekah could go on her merry way with Klaus and Elijah knowing Elena's relationships with Stefa and Damon are nearly beyond repair.

Can we just worry about Shane for a minute? One of his heroes is gone. And what happened to Kol's bat? Forget Kol's bat, I want to know what was on his playlist. Do you think he was listening to "I am a Survivor" or "It's the End of the World as We Know It"? Speaking of R.E.M. , I just want to watch Klaus well up the tears to "Everybody Hurts". Old school, but it fits his persona. I am still pouting like a seven year-old about Kol. I was silly enough to think he would make it out. He had a following. Not sure if we will see him again, even with Silas. Maybe flashbacks. And I think Kol was (crying for using past tense) smart enough to know Klaus wash't behind his murder. Not Klaus' style, like Kol expected to be daggered (well, like all of his siblings expect to be daggered from Klaus). Do you think Klaus will tell Caroline about Henrik? About the fact he has watched two brothers die?

I wonder if that scene had a bigger purpose, if it's some sort of sign for Rebekah's future or something. Probably not. Also, Kat wants me to talk about the Klamon. She forced me to write this. What can I say, I love the snark between these two, they play off each other well. Villain-bonding time FTW. But Damon's bad guy speech was total BS. I've watched TVD's previous seasons and I remember very well multiple times when Damon had absolutely no purpose for the ugly stuff he did. So, yeah, that part was contrived. And I was really surprised that the big conversation turned out to be Caroline-related (Mandy had guessed right ). It was weird that Klaus asked Damon for advice out of everyone, but Klaus doesn't know about Caroline's history with Damon, does he? I'm not really sure about that. Anyway, I've said that on tumblr before, what mostly sold me in that scene was JM's expressions and delivery. That little frustrated breath he took and the defeated lowering of the head before asking Damon the crucial question... it killed me.BRB, going to rewatch that scene on youtube now.

I contradict myself. If one member of Elena's triangle is turned human and doesn't want to be, then couldn't someone else in MF that is a vampire just turn them again? In that case it wouldn't be much angst to turn someone in the main triangle human and not the other 2 parties.
Ok....Now, I'm curious on what was on Kol's playlist. Suggestions?

LOL YAY TANIA! I loved the Klamon banter too. But yeah, Damon has done bad things for no reason so I kinda rolled my eyes at that part because, COME ON. and Im surprised at how he went to Damon instead of Stefan, since he openly hates the older Salvatore. Then again, DE is more similar to KC than SE is. and yes I totally gushed when his whole face softened and he looked so innocent!!! gahh its getting harder and harder to say that he isnt in love with her yet. *happy tears* Im gonna have to watch that scene again too.

I really wasn't getting Mabekah feels either. More of relief because he wasn't needed. He was probably thinking he didn't have "moves like a ninja" that day.

He was probably thinking he didn't have "moves like a ninja" that day. if you think about, Elena has plans for everyone. Stefan was going to get the dagger, Matt was going to dagger Rebekah, Bonnie was going to migraine Kol, Jeremy was going to kill Kol, Bonnie was going to trap Klaus (I'm assuming the original plan did not include trapping in the Gilbert house, though..lol). The only reason why Elena actually got in on the action was because Kol showed up when he wasn't supposed to. Ugh, just makes me mad every time I think about it. Matt was probably thinking "whew, glad I didn't have to be a part of vampire genocide". lol Did ya'll see that Price Peterson did a few photos? He picked a few scenes and one was Elena on the phone saying something like "want to start a vampire holocaust with me?" All of the recaps I have read have all said something to that affect, so I'm glad it's not just being brushed under the rug.

How would Kol be resurrected though? I thought only the ones who died in Silas's name would be resurrected? Kol was against it. Unless, like I read on here, the truce thing might be a way to bring him back?

He was killed for Jeremy's mark to be complete, so they could get the spell to open the grave.

I saw the recaps and was thankful Price came out of retirement to add a few gems. I really wonder what Caroline thinks of the whole vampire genocide thing. It really disturbed me that when Elena mentioned daggering Rebekah early on in the season, Stefan said that 1000's of vampires in her bloodline would then die, and not once did that dialogue/discussion/moral high ground parallel in episode 12. Please folks, have a little remorse for the dead. Am still curious about how many it takes to complete the tattoo. And what happened to Elena giving up the cure for Jeremy's sake? Kol's playlist - Why The Killers of course! Muse is on Klaus' playlist for obvious reasons.

MANDY!!!! Your avatar is breaking my heart again. Something about Klaus's reaction (and Joseph Morgan) just makes it all the more harder to get past Kol's death. I think he went numb for a moment there...a deeply harrowing scene. How DARE they bring up "the hybrids thing" to calm him down when he just lost his brother of a 1000 years?! And so glad he said he was going to kill them all anyways...does it make Kol's death any more justifiable? No chance in hell! Dunno why everyone's going on about the vamp Elena...Sometimes I forget that she's even a vampire! And when she tried to reason with Klaus..that was her S3 trademark right there, trying to rope them around her finger...so pathetic. Stefan got away with this with Rebekah this episode, but I'm hoping not for long! So so mad at these guys...where's the honor? None of them deserve anything after this! Not that mad at Bonnie though, she's a witch afterall...supposed to be up for all this but it's unfair and I wish she just stands up for herself a bit more. Kinda like in S3, when she was in the middle. The MF gang started to show their hypocrisy but they also lost the full trust of their witch friend...it was all good. Ofcourse all that went out of the window when she almost killed herself to get back Elena's "spirit". I started loving Abby Bennet when she says, "My daughter is done helping Elena Gilbert!" Full name and all, loved it!
Must go check out Price Peterson's photo recaps.
@donna - I think once you're cured, you'll also gain immunity to vampirism or something like that!

With all this talk about the Originals needing to avenge Kol's death by killing one of the main characters, does anyone think Jeremy might die this season? Klaus is not going to remain trapped in the Gilbert house forever, and we know the gang won't succeed in killing him or dessicating him again before Klaus has a chance to follow through on his threats against them because of the spin-off. Obviously Elena, Damon, and Stefan can't die since they're the main characters. That would make Jeremy the only choice for The Originals to kill and he was the person who actually staked Kol.

Actually, a lot of people think Jeremy dies on the island at the end of 4x14 or beginning of 4x15). It seems like Steven McQueen hasn't came back to work yet this year (neither has Trevino) based on twitter, and Nina and Kat keep talking about how sad 4x15 is. aeidai, I'm sorryyyyy! I just love this particular part because it's right when his face goes from heartbroken to "I'm killing you all". I can't wait til the spin off when Klaus can kill whomever he wants because he'll be labeled the "lead". Like you, I just can't get over Kol's death. Every time I think of how it went down, it makes my blood boil.
