With the holiday hiatus upon us, Dani and I thought it was time to start up our movie club again. To kick off the Holiday Break we'd like to start with.... The Grinch Who Stole Christmas (1966 original version) Please watch and discuss it with us! (I plan on watching it tonight December 14, 2012 but you are more than welcome to revisit this thread and share your thoughts any time.) In addition to discussing the details of this fantastic classic we'll also be watching for any TVD/Klaroline parallels we discover.

I have always LOVED this movie. You have the bad guy whose heart turns good in the end all because of a girl who showed him the light. Sounds very Klaroline to me

The Grinch feels so alone and isolated but it's basically because he stays in his cave with his dog. His dog reminds of Klaus' hybrids, who feel obligated to do his bidding. I also noticed how the Grinch comes up with this elaborate plan which includes sewing a Santa suit for himself. In actuality, he could have worn nothing and just broke in and stole the stuff but he took a devilish pleasure in planning out all of these details. And he looked forward to the moment that he thought that the residents would wake up and be miserable.... as miserable and empty as he feels. I also noticed how the Grinch was changed by little blonde girl, much like Klaus was in regards to Caroline. Cindy Lou snuck up on the Grinch and he found himself wanting to treat her with kindness. Then the Grinch gave her a drink (hmmm, what about how Klaus gave Caroline a drink of his blood?) then the Grinch sent her back to bed so she go to sleep (just like Caroline did after Klaus saved her life.) I love how the Grinch saw that those in Whoville didn't need material things to be happy or to celebrate Christmas. It was about being with family and spending time with them. Seeing this, the Grinch's heart grew and he embraced the spirit of Christmas. Not only did he relish giving them all of their gifts, decorations, and food back, but he spent Christmas with them. He looked so happy As for Klaus, I think he is jealous of the fact that the MF gang has family and friends that they trust and want in their lives. He is like the Grinch living his mansion that he built with the dream that his sibling with share with him. But like the Grinch who wanted to steal Christmas, Klaus is still at the point where he is all about "taking" except when it comes to Caroline, with whom he wants to share with and give things to.
