Oh boy! This episode definitely made me cry, first time since 4x02 with Alaric. Caroline, honey, Tyler isn't calling you back! I wonder if that's how they plan on slowly drifting Caroline and Tyler apart? I mean, I can't see klaus paying THAT much attention to their phone records..lol. So maybe there will be some sort of time jump from this episode to the next, and Tyler hasn't returned any of her calls? Anyway, very happy that there was no Klaus-Murder plot between her and Stefan. Also happy to hear that Katherine wants to bargain with Klaus. Ok, Katherine. Let me get this straight. Katherine, Vaughn (my angel!), and Hayley all met each other in New Orleans (I KNEW that's where she was hiding out at) and planned a way to get the cure. So Vaughn and Katherine went to the island together. That sound right? Girl better get back and save Vaughn. He can't just die in that cavern all alone. SOBS. Silas/Shane. Um....ok what?! Is Silas not corporeal? Or can he just make his own body look like whatever he wants it to? So real Shane is off on the island with Rebekah while Silas/Shane is popping out to talk to crazy Bonnie. She's totally crazy now. Although I did laugh at the outrage they all showed about killing 12 people while a couple of days ago they were killing tens of thousands of vamps like it's no big thang. Matty. My poor Matt. I can just see all the Damon hate that's about to pop up now that he's made Elena turn off her humanity. Better than Klaus hate, I guess. I can see both sides, I guess. He COULD have just told her to calm down in that moment. I also don't get why SHE doesn't have to experience grief. Every one of them has lost a loved one, but Elena can't handle it because of her compassion. I have no idea if I am interested in dark Elena or not. No one can ever top Rippah Stefan. NO ONE. He made turning it off awesome and hilarious, but I don't think Elena will be that way. Jeremy. Sniff. I wasn't this huge fan of his, but I was very sad there at the end. When they could smell him and there at the end when they showed all of his stuff burning, along with his body. Definitely cried. I wonder if it's supposed to be a shout out to how Kol died? Almost fitting in a way, two brothers that were mourned going out in similar fashion. I miss Klaus.

I was coming in here to say the same thing. I also noticed that Caroline said she was cleaning up the mess Kol's corpse made when Stefan walked into the house with Jeremy's dead body. The writers were definitely acknowledging that Elena ended up having to pay for setting up Kol's death.

Well I can see everyone just adored this riveting episode... Only compassion I felt was when Matt cried. Kudos to Nina though. And kudos to Bonnie getting some fun. Kind of actually like her being nutso... Sidenote: I bet Steve McQueen was just, "Hell yeah. I get to get paid for lying around in bed all day. Let's do it."

This thread is oh so lonely! I wonder why... Tonight's episode was so sad, you guys. I feel better knowing I do indeed have a heart and feelings towards the Gilbert clan after all! It looks like the three bffs were having a serious case of denial in this episode. Elena: He's not dead! Bonnie: I can bring him back! Caroline: [to Tyler] Yesterday can't be the last time I'll ever see you again. It does look like there will be a time jump from this episode to the next, which I'm hoping is of great advantage for our ship. Now, I will wait patiently for the next three weeks to see if Klaus will get a peek at Caroline in her cheerleading outfit.

I'm surprised I was able to enjoy an episode that didn't have Klaus or Elijah. Nina out-shined everyone in the acting department in this episode.

Nina just broke my stone-cold heart...seriously, she was stunning. Poor Jer. It was so tragic for him from the beginning, always was. I was disappointed with Silas (not his form...just the lack of presence)...did Damon see him? At first I thought Silas was just in Bonnie's head, but Shane's reaction suggests otherwise. I was kinda scared for Rebekah for a moment there you know, alone on that island. Katherine-Hayley-Vaughn in cahoots! Did not see that one coming at all. Beautiful episode....there were some really great moments between themselves. Matt and everything he did for Elena was so heartfelt... He got to her better than everyone else...they were all going on about sirebond, humanity switch, funeral arrangements, lifting the veil etc. The creation of the Other side was interesting tidbit. Bonnie was certainly mad...that scene around the table was totally like the Council of Elrond! Nicely shot. Even the Gilbert house burning down...but on the other hand, Klaus may calm down a bit now before getting on with it.

KStew, I feel the same way. Wait, I DO occasionally have a heart when it comes to people besides Klaus. I'm sure by next episode I'll be side eying everyone again, so I'm not THAT nice. This is a hard episode to talk about and break down since nothing really happened to further the plot. I think the most interesting thing I took from it is "OH NOES. Where's Vaughn?!". Glad to know my priorities are in order.

Geez. This episode was soooooo sad I didn't cry but I was about to LOL. I only cried when Jenna and Klaus died. Jeremy. Good God. Poor kid. I was mad when he killed Kol but I never hated him. One of my favs tbh. It was really hard to watch both Stefan and Damon carry him because they both had a bond with him and when Caroline and Stefan smelled his body, I was just on the complete verge if sobbing. And with all his stuff burning along with body ughhhhh WHY? ?? Elena. I wanted to hug her so badly. She lost her only family left and her denial was heartbreaking. I loved how she stayed by Jere's side... Nina was just stunning. I got chills when she was breaking down and especially when she turned off her humanity. Kudos. Caroline. My bby is so selfless, helping elena with this but I wish Tyler actually answered his phone... She's so lonely already and I wanted to comfort her when she begged Elena to stop scaring her. I was gonna cry Damon. Kay this is gonna be weird but I got delena feels LOL. I loved how he comforted her and asked her to take her pain away. Defan was cute too. Stefan. Loved how he was trying to calm Elena down but I wish they hugged I loved Steroline too! Matt. Don't really care about him but when he started crying, it broke my heart in a million pieces. His bromance with Jeremy was heart warming. I got Melena feels too.... Oops. Vaughn. He is sooooooooo hot it's not even funny. Lmao loved his attitude and his interaction with Bekah. Hope someone saves him though. He's too hot and awesome to die! Rebekah. My bby was flawless. She showed compassion and I LOVED how sadistic she was with Vaughn. LOL. Debekah banter was cute.... Until Damon used her as a shield. Not cool. Bonnie. Where's her straightjacket? I didn't spell that right.... LOL. She's crazy but I LOVE it. Silas needs to stay away from her at the same time though. Am I the only one who thought there was obvious Bamon foreshadowing? Overall, great episode. Missed my bby Klausy kins though.

Yes Kat...what a strange episode! Everyone were helping each other out as well. And that Defan scene on the porch...I just wanted to grab them both and bawl my eyes out.

Now, I will wait patiently for the next three weeks to see if Klaus will get a peek at Caroline in her cheerleading outfit. I just finally watched it and Tania is out of the country. Loved Rebekah in this episode. Hated Damon using the sire bond to take away her pain. And why didn't Stefan try harder to interrupt Damon. He tried to protest, but just a little. Hope someone rescues Vaugh. Loved his interactions with Bek. Occasionally my connection at the WB would go out. I had problems hearing something he said to Bek. Was it that "Who knows...I could be Silas?" I don't think there was Bamon foreshadowing. More like Bamon fanservice. Just like JP gave Beremy fanservice earlier in the year and said in an interview "This was to remind you that there are unresolved feelings there". How is the cover story going to work if Elena told April that Jeremy was dead before the fire. She rang Elena's home phone, not her cell phone. Wonder why Tyler wasn't answering his phone. Did he ditch it like Caroline suggested? Or something more serious? Elena wouldn't have lasted a day with the hunters curse, not to mention 53+ years. And I kind of wonder if the brothers didn't have more faith in Elena, then maybe she would have gotten over this all on her own with time. I liked Meredith's hair. Silas: Is he a shapeshifter. I've seen speculation that he's a different type of doppelganger. Who will be the 12? Will it be humans or supernatural? The supernatural will come back though. Why did Bonnie go looking for Jeremy? She was in the cave with him when he died. Katherine learning about the cure from Hayley? Random. Did anyone see that TVD beat out the major networks in the ratings for that hour?
