Rebekah's family is very dysfunctional because the entire family allows their anger, pride, and sense of betrayal to take first priority over maintaining a happy and loving family. This seems to be the typical relationship vampires have with their families on TVD since the Salvatores are the only other example of a vampire family and they too can easily turn on each other when one of them feels betrayed. Rebekah explained it best in Ordinary People. Vampires are very emotional (far more so than humans) which can equal some pretty disastrous relationships with people they love. But even with all the magnified anger they may feel for family members or a significant other they still can't easily let go of those relationships because nobody wants to spend eternity alone. That's a very good analysis of their emotional status. I've been so unhappy with Rebekah turning on Klaus when Mikael is brought in to kill him, but she's being emotional. She can't think straight in moments of extreme anger and hurt. At the end of the day these people love each other. You can see Rebekah's and Elijah's love for each other and Klaus when they embrace in 3x22. This whole family is in need of some serious counselling! I'm worried about Rebekah's future on the show becasue Team MF is so antagonistic. She deserves some happiness. I don't believe she's been unhappy for the last 900 years (she missed 90 in the coffin), but Klaus is incapable of showing his love for her, of making her feel valued, because he himself doesn't feel loved. It's what she needs to feel and hear. Ripper Stefan was hardly a Romeo. Rebekah needs some romance in her life. I'm worried about the future of all the Originals. As was witnessed in The Murder of One, Team MF will continue to attack the Originals even if a couple or all of them are not actively trying to fight Team MF.

And it's not clear why they want to get rid of Klaus and his family at that point, is it? He stopped threatening and compelling people. They don't know his idea is to take Elena with him when he leaves town. Somehow I doubt they're trying to help mankind in general.

Once Stefan stole the coffins their reason for wanting the Originals and specifically Klaus dead was solely about revenge for Stefan. Stefan admitted this to everyone and they all backed him up instead of saying he was being a selfish jerk for putting his desire for revenge over the safety of all the people around him. They could have put all this behind them had they just let Klaus have his family so his siblings could deal with him. Obviously they can't exactly reason with Klaus because the guy will do whatever he wants when he wants, but had any of them bothered to approach Elijah and ask him to keep his brother under control he would have absolutely done just that because he likes Elena. But of course nobody on Team MF bothered to consider any of this because they prefer the "act now, think later" approach.

Not sure if this is considered a spoiler, so I'll just put it in a spoiler tag In Candice's most recent interview she said something about how the gang is acknowledging that Klaus has helped them out on a number of occasions and she feels they are more on an even playing field now. So, I'm thinking...HOPING...that the whole 'yay! Let's kill the Originals!" story line is completely dropped this season. The MF gang has gotten WAY to kill happy here recently. I will say that if the Originals are killed this year then I am done with the show. They are the reason I am watching. I do wish Rebekah could have a friend this year. NOT Elena, though. She has enough people falling all over themselves for her.

I really hope that the gang and Originals are so busy working together to fight a common enemy that they don't have the time to fight with each other. The only Originals that they have a bone to pick with are Klaus and Rebekah. And if they accept the fact that Klaus is the sire of their bloodline that really only leaves Rebekah for them to go after. And honestly, she only caused the accident because she was grieving and because she needed Elena to die so that Alaric couldn't kill her or her siblings.
