S4E16 Bring It On Discussion

I'm not on tumblr. I just usually skim through the general tag. Is the fan reaction really THAT bad? Are they hating on Klaus as well? I get the idea that most of the Klaroline fandom likes Klaus because of Klaroline...god, I hope I'm wrong.

The whole episode was terrible...all over the place. I only loved the Steroline bits. I just remembered that Rebekah had some scenes too...totally forgettable. How did that happen! oh dear.

And I hate Elena so much that it's starting to affect everything. She is worse than Katherine (who is AMAZING) and it just struck me (disturbingly so) during that feeding scene where she unlaces the blue ribbon, which was a great scene by the way that Elena has really become such an abhorrent character. With the humanity switch off, she's the worst version of her but it's still some part of her true self. Look at the shocking constrast and even then, all the lil' things implied here and there were all present from the beginning, I think. It's her natural state, just unrestrained and moreover...it is the way she expresses it. She can't even go dark convincingly. The character is in shambles.

I felt bad for Klaus really. I was worried that he would appear totally out of character because IDK, sex was made out to be kinda personal and something separate for the character but it did fit somehow. He was being so nice and generous, even went as far as to admit that he was enjoying himself around Hayley. Poor Klaus. You could see that he was trying to find something else between himself and Hayley...even up until the last minute but then, he just got mad and gave up. It was not much but I'll take it.

Hayley was the wrong person, tho. I think the compels-blond girl scenario was much better lol. All in all, terrible idea. And bad writing on her part. We all knew it was a hard thing to give a sex scene to a character like Klaus, given that he never had one before and how much his "abstinence" was held in high regard amongst the Klaroline fandom. *sigh*

I hope it's not going to be like this in the spin-off too. I want him to be free, okay?...with all his intimate scenes. No more awkward buildup...No fanservice...no hateful reaction...and defintely not with Hayley again.
Was there anything good that came out of all this?

I went back and looked at her previous tweet, "You guys VD is on tonight!"  We should have know it was Hayley then (if we were following PT), because using the initials for Venereal Disease when you have a sex scene is a major clue. But she used TVD from then on out. 

I am not surprised about the backlash, but it would be nice if people just commented that they were disappointed, or did not understand the chemistry (none) instead of sending hate.

I would quit Twitter for all the hate sent out to actors, writers and columnists - but I don't just follow the TVD crew.  

And my earlier comment about Klaus and Hayley hooking up - usually this is a tease about chemistry in series.  The male lead and female lead tease each other before hooking up, and sometimes it lasts a season, sometimes five in typical sitcoms/dramas (think of all the build up for Ross/Rachel, Castle/Beckett).  All I am saying is that I do not see how they can re-visit these two.  And it will be hard that they are headed off into another series and it might be like it never happened, and that might be weird. 

The only thing I got from this post is that you want to steal Klaus and keep him to yourself. NO.

I'm not going to lie, I am a tiny bit happy that the Klayley experiment isn't getting good feedback. The rudeness of some fans is just sad though.

Upon rewatch, I liked the contrast they created between Hayley and Caroline: Hayley's approach is "twisted and I like it", whereas Caroline's is "there's good in you and you can be saved". I see what you did there show.

Also, am I the only one who doesn't see any sexual tension in Steroline? I adore their friendship and their chemistry is wonderful, but I'm seeing posts about how you can cut the sexual tension with a knife and I'm here thinking...WOT.  

I'm not feeling the Steroline sexual tension, either. Their relationship has always been more of a Lexi/Stefan dynamic to me, really. And I like that. I want to see a male/female dynamic which just involves friendship and nothing else. Not everyone has to hook up.

I am relieved the Klayley experiment crashed and burned big time; I hope this means they're not going to go that route on Originals. I do wish people wouldn't be rude about it, though. It's immature to send hate tweets to the actors and to the producer. It's fine to voice your opinion even if that opinion is not full of rainbows and kittens, but at least go about it in a respectful way, and remember that the actors themselves have no control over the scripts.

I think people grasp onto Steroline because of the friendship.  Even if it goes nowhere.  I just like the fact that they were having fun, acting like goofy teenagers!  It just seems like Caroline has been pining away for Tyler, when the show needs to  move on, and Stefan is getting over Elena, and we want him to be happy too.  Even if last night was the last of it, they were having fun... and since Caroline can't have fun with Elena, and Bonnie is AWOL, I am glad that she had Stefan. No drama, no angst.  Just lots of smiles. And maybe because I don't want things to revolved around Elena.

Also, I miss season 3.  I am not sure of season 4.  Started out promising, but so many twists and turns, and emotional roller coasters.  Not sure that I liked losing Jeremy so Elena could be all messed up in the head and treat Caroline like that.  Can you believe that some think Caroline deserved it for being judgmental?  Weird.

Ever notice that the only sex scenes (besides Alaric and Jenna) are shown with vampires/hybrids/werewolves?  I mean, Elena and Stefan had a scene too, but no birth control needed with the supernatural.  With a town promoting underage drinking, surprised there are no teen pregnancies going around.  I mean, the town's population is going to die off.  Come to think of it, there are never any baby strollers or toddlers hanging out in the background.  The only time I remember seeing kids was episode 4x9 - at the outdoor winter festival. 

Vaughan needs to come back and procreate.  Little baby hunters...Maybe he can help Bonnie protect the Bennett line.  Little witch/supernatural hunters.  Now, there is a combo.  Not that I want kids on the show, it is just odd to think about everyone dying.

Oh, I'm totally happy that for the most part, Klayley didn't go over well. I wish more people would admit that it was hot (because of Klaus) but I have zero interest in Hayley being his LI in The Originals. I don't mind if he has one, but not one that's hung up on Tyler ( ) and not one that's plotted against him in the past. I see them being like Rebekah and Damon. Yes, they hooked up once, but now they spend their time just sort of smack talking each other and being sorta friends. I hope he has Hayley in his corner on the spin off. I saw a post on tumblr where they said that Hayley more or less has been the first person in a long time who chose to stay when Klaus gave them a choice. She's kind of in his pack now. And then she can be annoying and bring up Caroline all the time and tease him and I will ship them as friends...lol. And then she can make eyes at Marcel and my life will be complete.

But ANYWAY.
