How's it going with the 5th pet, Tami? My family wants to consider a dog. I want one, but am very nervous too. If it wasn't for the 19+ year old cat and 14+ year old cat, I'd may be less nervous.

Simba is going well, although he has been a bit more reserved in the past few days. He made a mess the other day and my husband had to give him a bath Simba didn't hiss at him or anything but he was not pleased. I think the new cat needs a bit more affection that our cats so we are going to have to shower him with more. As far as the other cats, I think they are even happier, especially the one who used to be the outsider. Overall, we are more than happy with how things turned out. He really is a special pet and we don't want to consider what may have happened to him if we hadn't come along. It sounds as though Simba was overlooked so many times simply because of his age which is a total shame. Sometimes that is just how life is, you plan for one thing and then something else comes along. If you are thinking about getting a dog, the best thing I can recommend is to take your time and to see what is out there. And since you already have pets, you'll want to make sure that it is a dog that likes other pets. Let others know that you are looking too, there are so many people out there that need to surrender their pets for all sorts of reasons.

Thanks for the advice. Our shelter is trying to win a contest to get a lot of money for a makeover. So, they need to get adoption counts up. They are taking in animals from other shelters if they run low on animals. I heard one of the volunteers saying that. They've even given away cats on Fridays. I could be wrong, but I don't think our 19 year old cat will live too much longer. The next youngest will be 15 next year. Then there's the 4 year old and the 1 1/2 year old. We've looked at a chihuaua mix at the shelter. It's a real lap dog.

Wow, 7 is young! We had one pass away from oral cancer a couple of years ago. She was 13.

My little guy, Andre. He's...5 or 6 years by now, I think. He is such a king. Spoiled brat syndrome, for sure. But he's the best cuddle buddy ever.

I'm looking to adopt another cat soon. I'm very excited. I went to the animal shelter today and saw some adorable little kittens. One of them was trying to get my attention by trying to reach through her cage and smack me in the face with her paw. The other two kittens who really got my attention were full of energy and wouldn't stop meowing. It was so cute. I also looked online at the cats available for adoption at another animal shelter and discovered this two year old cat named Lacey. She was brought the shelter with a broken leg after she was hit by a car. Before that she was a homeless kitty. I'm very interested in her too because she has such a sad story. So I'm going to be visiting her tomorrow. By the end of this, I may end up with two new cats. I don't know if I'm going to be able to choose between Lacey and the kittens from the other shelter. ;D
