I also agree with Cashima. Someone on tumblr thought once Klaus was looking at Caroline when Tayley showed up, he wanted to know if she'd confess to the fake breakup....hmm.

People were already saying that the hummingbird story was painfully cheesy. What would they have said if Klaus expressed his desires to have a normal human family? That would've been too weird for me, I think.

I think it doesn't matter WHO tells a story about a hummingbird, it's going to have a bit of a cheese factor. But the good thing about Joseph Morgan is that he totally able to sell it by how he said his lines and his facial expressions. That is why most fans ended up swooning instead of laughing (well, beside the few TC fans who said he said that just because he knew Tyler was listening in :

That would've been too weird for me, I think. Don't kill me, but I kind of cringed during that hummingbird scene. It was sweet but at the same time a little cheesy. I would have found it more believable if Klaus had said he wanted a normal family. It's not like he doesn't want a supportive family. He tried to make Stefan his substitute for Elijah and keeps his hybrids around because they're the only "family" he can guarantee on being loyal to him. But it might have been too soon for him to admit that to Caroline.
